Proton VPN
Overview
Swiss-based VPN with strict no-logs policy and large server network.
Details
Proton VPN is developed by Proton AG, the Swiss company behind ProtonMail. The service benefits from Switzerland's strong privacy laws and maintains a strict no-logs policy backed by regular security audits. The platform supports multiple VPN protocols and offers a large server network with cross-platform apps for mobile and desktop. Open-source code allows independent verification of security claims. A Tor/onion site is available for additional privacy. Cryptocurrency payments are accepted via Bitcoin and Lightning Network through a third-party reseller (digitalgoods.proxysto.re). Monero is also supported through this same reseller. Identity-free account registration is possible. While Proton VPN uses LUKS-encrypted servers rather than RAM-only servers, the Swiss jurisdiction and Proton's reputation provide strong privacy guarantees. Note that registering accounts via Tor may trigger anti-abuse lockouts, and some IPs are blocked in heavily censored regions.
